Who wants to be a millionaire? Naturally, that was rhetorical. With the Christmas dust settling and the Alexandra Palace spotlight sharpening, the remaining thirty-two gladiators at the 2026 PDC Paddy Power World Championship are all eyeing the same thing – the Sid Waddell Trophy raised high above their heads and the first seven-figure payday this sport has ever dared to dream up.

Legacy, lucre, immortality. Small stuff. So who’s getting the keys to darts’ most exclusive vault? The bookies didn’t wait around. Paddy Power nailed their colours to the mast early doors, installing reigning champion Luke Littler as an odds-on favourite at a punchy 8/11.

No wobble, no drift, no panic – just supreme faith that the sport’s golden child can do it all over again.

Standing directly in his slipstream is his namesake and fellow heavyweight, Luke Humphries, next best at 9/2 and looming like a man who knows exactly how to ruin a party.

Beneath the twin Lukes sits the reigning European Champion and the only man to smash the 2025 ranking major monopoly enjoyed by the England World Cup duo – Gian van Veen. The Dutchman is priced at 9/1 and carries the unmistakable air of someone who hasn’t come to make up numbers. He’s come to nick silverware and upset narratives.

Then it gets… interesting.

Somewhere in the betting slip hinterland sits a three-time world champion and one of the most ferocious competitors the oche has ever known – Michael van Gerwen. Mighty Mike at 14/1. Behind his own young compatriot. Let that marinate for a moment. It feels borderline surreal, but that’s where we are in this era – reputations don’t win legs anymore.

Following MVG at 16/1 is Josh Rock, while Stephen Bunting lurks at 25/1, quietly screaming value from the rooftops. And if you fancy rummaging further down the odds aisle, keep your eyes peeled for Nathan Aspinall at 40/1 and Jonny Clayton at 50/1 – two multiple-major champions priced like plucky outsiders. If you’re ever going to back The Asp or The Ferret, now is very much the time to stop thinking and start clicking. But the real eyebrow-raiser?

Rob Cross at a scarcely believable 150/1. Yes, Voltage hasn’t exactly been lighting up the metrics this season, but class doesn’t evaporate overnight. One hot run, one spark of belief, and suddenly that price looks like the kind you remember for years – either fondly, or with a deep sense of personal regret.

Thirty-two remain. One leaves with everything. The rest? Just memories, missed doubles and what-ifs echoing through the Ally Pally rafters. Buckle up – this is where the fun really starts.

—– Ends—–

With round two of the PDC World Championships complete we move toward the business end of the PDC World Championship of 2026. The traditional Christmas break allows all those still in the event to rest and recharge their batteries before their quest begibns again on or around the 27th of DEcember.

The latest odds (from BOYLE Sports) show several areas of potential value. Josh Rock seems to be quietly going about his work as he tries to add the ultimate cherry on the top of a breakthrough season. 14-1 for the Northern Irish World Cup Champion seems at least fair.

There’s been some notable eliminations already, with Gerwyn Price who entered the competition as fourth favourite at 14/1 losing in straight sets to Wesley Plaisier and Danny Noppert going down in a tremendous encounter with Justin Hood.

Ahead of the tournament, Luke Littler was pencilled in to face Gerwyn Price in the Quarterfinals, but following the Welshman’s exit from the tournament, Littler’s chance of retaining the championship have shortened to 8/13 from 10/11.

Gian van Veen has solidified his place as third favourite, remaining 9/1 to win the competition. Many would say he had form, momentum and temperament on his side.

Jonny Clayton’s odds have halved to 33/1 after being given a bye to the third round.

Expect Gary Anderson’s to do the same after his fine victory last night. The only real question, for fans of the Scot, is: can he maintain his best over 4 more matches many of which may be longer that his first two?

PDC World Championship 2026 Winner – odds provided by BOYLE Sports

Luke Littler – 8/13

Luke Humphries – 4/1

Gian van Veen – 9/1

Josh Rock – 14/1

Michael van Gerwen – 16/1

Stephen Bunting – 25/1

Nathan Aspinall – 28/1

Jonny Clayton – 33/1

Gary Anderson – 50/1

With the World Darts Championship well underway, it has not just been the players making the headlines, with a certain ‘Ally Pally Wasp’ popping up on the broadcast regularly and Poker Scout make the viral insect odds-on at 10/11 to sting a player during a match before the tournament is out.

Following multiple appearances, the wasp’s days could be numbered, with it just 2/1 that a player kills a wasp on the broadcast before the end of the tournament. We haven’t seen a wasp land on the board yet, but that could change, with it 8/1 that one lands on the bullseye during a game.

If there’s anyone who could hit a small insect with a dart, it would be a professional and it’s 14/1 that a wasp is struck by a dart.

Spokesperson for Poker Scout, Jeffrey McMillan, said: “With many players already making a name for themselves at the 2026 World Darts Championship, there’s been an unlikely fan favourite emerge in the ‘The Ally Pally Wasp’ which has made regular appearances during games.

“We haven’t had a sting related casualty yet, but if the wasp keeps appearing with this regularity, it surely cannot be long until a player is struck and we make it 10/11 that a player is stung during the broadcast by a wasp.

“It’s 2/1 that a player kills a wasp whilst playing in a match, whether that be with an arrow or not, however, it is 14/1 that a wasp is hit with a dart in the tournament.”

For many sports fans, a cheeky flutter is as essential as the pre-match pint — and darts devotees are every bit as guilty. With the PDC World Championship looming like a tungsten tidal wave, Esports Bets has cracked open a menu of gloriously outrageous odds designed to tempt even the most casual punter into the chaos.

And they’re not messing about. The Ally Pally — the cathedral of bedlam — has witnessed sixteen nine-darters in its glittering history. Only the Premier League has seen more (21), and last year’s tournament gifted us two absolute screamers: one from Christian Kist, the other from Damon Heta.

With that in mind, they have slapped a 2/5 price on another perfect leg gracing the big stage. Fancy playing the villain and saying “no nine-darter this year”? That’ll land you a 7/4 return — not too shabby if you expect the gods of perfection to take Christmas off.

If you reckon we’re in for a festival of perfection — two or more nine-darters — you can snap up a juicy 6/4. If your gut says the magic won’t happen twice, the Under 1.5 sits at 1/2.

POTENTIAL 9-DART HEROES

– Luke Littler – 3/1

– Luke Humphries – 8/1

– Michael van Gerwen – 12/1

– Gerwyn Price – 20/1

– Beau Greaves – 66/1

– Fallon Sherrock – 200/1

Beau Greaves at 66/1 is the kind of temptation that could make a statue reach for its wallet.

THE WOMEN’S MARKET: FIVE SHOTS AT GLORY

Esports Bets has also launched a bet specifically for the five women competing — and thanks largely to the Beau Greaves Effect, the price for any of them winning a match stands at 2/7.

Your ticket also includes:

– Fallon Sherrock upsetting Dave Chisnall

– Gemma Hayter flooring Josh Rock

– Noa-Lynn van Leuven toppling Peter Wright

– Lisa Ashton taking out Michael Smith

If you think none pull it off, Esports Bets offers a chunky 5/2.

WHO GOES FARTHEST?

– Beau Greaves – 4/6

– Fallon Sherrock – 11/4

– Noa-Lynn van Leuven – 6/1

– Lisa Ashton – 7/1

– Gemma Hayter – 16/1

Beau isn’t just favourite — she’s a force of nature. Yet, only Fallon has been past their opening tie in the championship previously so perhaps the true value is not with the obvious here.

Esports Bets has unleashed a buffet of tungsten-flavoured temptations — perfect legs, giant-killing women, outsider miracles and everything in between. If you want to make the World Championship even more intoxicating than it already is, the options are right there.

—–ENDS—–

Luke Littler has shortened to 11/10 to win the World Darts Championship after his dominant defeat of nearest rival Luke Humphries in last night’s World Grand Prix final.

Littler’s victory in Leicester has trimmed his odds to go back-to-back at Alexandra Palace to almost even-money, with the teenager now 11/10 to lift the Sid Waddell trophy this January, according to Casino Beats.

Humphries meanwhile occupies second in the betting at 11/2, with Josh Rock (10/1) way out in third.

Ollie Ring, spokesperson for Casino Beats, said: “Last night was a statement performance from Luke Littler against Luke Humphries in the World Grand Prix.

“A 6-1 thrashing over the world number one has pulled Luke Littler into 11/10 for the World Championship, having previously been priced 6/4 to win at the Alexandra Palace.

“Littler is way out in front in terms of the market – with Humphries his closest contender at 11/2 – and it would take an upset to deny ‘The Nuke’ from another World Championship title.”

However there is decent value in Rock, Price and MVG according to DW’s resident coach:

” Ally pally will be longer than ever this year and there are likely to be many twists and turns and so odds in double figures against people who know how to win there would seem an area worthwhile paying attention to….”

The World Seniors Darts Champion of Champions is almost upon us. In less than a week, a dozen legends will take to the oche, all vying for the coveted trophy. Who will succeed Richie Howson who claimed his debut TV title in last years event?

With the stage set at the MODUS Live Lounge and Pluto TV ready to bring you the live action as it unfolds, the first-round draw has produced some very tasty ties as we discussed here, but could also be the time to back your judgement and have a punt on the winner?

Title sponsors BetGoodwin have made Raymond Van Barneveld favourite with Steve Beaton close behind.

But, Barney is making his debut in WSD event and has never played in the venue previously and Beaton is also yet to win an event since joining the WSD Tour. Could the value be elsewhere?

Defending Champion Richie Howson has a superb record in World Senior Darts events reaching multiple finals before holding this trophy aloft last season. 7-1 seems worth a thought.

John Henderson had a superb spell in seniors darts after joining and claimed a trio of majors including a WSD World Championship. Although he has gone off the boil a little he will have huge support should not be counted out.

Our dark horse is Neil Duff, the former Lakeside World Champion has looked to be inching back to his best form in recent months. Assuming he overcomes Martin Adams he may fancy himself to catch van Barneveld cold and cause a major upset. 16-1 seems a value bet to some of us.

Overall despite short odds for the top two there’s plenty of value elsewhere, so if you think you have spotted a winner there is opportunity to back yourself handily this weekend.

—–ENDS—-

England have been installed as the pre-tournament favourites for the BetVictor World Cup of Darts ahead of the annual 40-nation event.

The world’s top-two ranked players, Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, will team up for England for the first time next week as they bid to win a sixth title for their nation.

The respective Premier League champion and World Champion, Humphries and Littler have been installed as 4/11 odds-on favourites with sponsors BetVictor to claim the title on Sunday June 15 in Frankfurt.

Two-time winners Wales are the 7/2 second favourites, as Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton look to complete their third World Cup triumph as a pairing.

BetVictor World Cup of Darts 2024

Scotland – represented by Peter Wright and Gary Anderson – are rated at 14/1 as they bid for a third World Cup success, while Belgium and Netherlands are 18/1.

A section of possible good values sees host nation Germany join fourth seeds Northern Ireland – Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney – as 20/1 chances.

2024 finalists Austria are 33/1 to go one better, while 2022 winners Australia are 28/1 in their bid or further glory.

Sam Boswell, Head of Sponsorship and Media at BetVictor, said: “We are delighted to once again be supporting the World Cup of Darts.

“This unique event is a huge hit with darts fans, and the pairing of the two Lukes for the first time is bound to only add to the excitement.

“Such is their ability; our traders have made them 4/11 to retain the World Cup for England. Next in the betting comes the in-form Welsh duo of Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton at 7/2, 2021 winners Scotland are 14/1 whilst last year’s runners up Austria are 33/1.

“We expect to see plenty of interest in the event and have a number of special offers for darts punters to enjoy.

“One price I think that will capture the imagination is a nine-darter to be landed in the event. We have gone 9/1 that any pair can pull off what would be a stunning feat in Frankfurt next week.”
