1997 - Issue 300: Trina Reigns Worldwide! The Artist Claims British Matchplay.

The Golden Girl, Trina Gulliver, has been a feature of Darts world articles for more years than it is polite to point out. Back in 1997 darts World, and others were stretching a point to claim she was a world champion. More precisely a champion around the world:

To claim titles in two such distant continents with only 11 days between them is a very difficult task. Simply look at those who won the PDC Players events in Australia or Canada. Rarely did they perform as well again as soon after arriving back in the UK.

A nod is also given to the rise of 'The Artist'. Kevin Painter is reported as defeating Steve Beaton in the final of the British Matchplay.
