It has long been known that darts fans come in all shapes and sixes and from all backgrounds and careers. One of the most famous is the national treasure otherwise known as Stephan Fry. Many will remember his hugely entertaining stints in the commentary box with Freddie Flintoff and Sid Waddell. But how many knew he was a long time fan?

It should also be noted that this was a quick witted move by the BDO to attract one of the most popular people in the UK to their showpiece occasion more than a decade ahead of his never forgotten 'pig in chardonnay' commentary.
