Live League Champions Week: Thornton claims crown

ROBERT Thornton was crowned the winner of Phase 5 at the Online Darts Live League on Saturday, after defeating Connor Scutt 4-2 in the final, to join Richie Burnett, Jim Williams and Chas Barstow in the roll of honour of Champions Week winners. 

Thornton, who entered the finale having won Group B on Thursday and Friday, won just one of his group phase matches, in defeating Shaun Griffiths, before losing to Connor Scutt. In the Semi Finals, ‘The Thorn’ defeated Ryan Furness 4-2, to set up a clash with Scutt for the second time on the night in the decider. 

Thornton’s experience proved to be decisive in the final, as he came out a 4-2 victor to defeat Scutt, and take home the £8,000 first prize and add himself to the roll of honour of Champions Week winners at the Online Darts Live League. 

Online Darts Live League returns on Monday with the start of Phase 6 commencing with the first of three days of Group A, with the field to be announced in due course. Play will commence from 9:30am GMT and will be streamed live on Online Darts TV YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
