Mic Drop: Good riddance to 2020.

By John Fowler MC 20/12/2020

Hello again readers, here we are, nearly at the end of 2020, and what an awful year it has been on the professional front. It started off brilliantly when I was one of the group of referees at the Indigo at the O2 for what turned out to be the last ever BDO World Professional Darts Championship.

I had some fantastic events in the first couple of months, mostly in Germany, but also a first-ever event for me on the island of Jersey. I went there for work purposes in 1991. My last booking was for Leeds University at the O2 Academy in that famous city on the 6th of March, I reckon it'll be like starting again when we get back to it.

Bookings at the Bulls German Open, Swiss Open, and the Bruges Belfry Open were lost to the pandemic, along with other possibles. Also, several league presentation evenings that I host every year, but they will eventually take place. Plus events in Scotland and England were postponed (happily not totally cancelled)

Ironic really, 2020? We didn't see that coming did we? All i can really say is, let's get this year out of the way, get on top of Covid 19 and any new strains that come along and get back to some kind of normality in 2021.

Good luck to all players, officials and organisations for the new year. Chins up, we can beat it. Keep smiling and stay safe everybody. See you at an event soon hopefully.
