The Amateur Award: Toff London chime in

By JR Lott 07/06/2021

DARTS WORLD has always loved acknowledging great darts. Whether it has been our reports of youth and women’s achievement in the early days, open event triumphs or the first 9-darters, we have always sought to give credit where it’s due. Perhaps the best example of this was our long-running ‘Player of the Month’ competition.

Warwickshire’s Natalie Gilbert claimed the title for issue 570 and has enjoyed continued success ever since. With the disruption of Covid-19 and upheaval within amateur darts, there was a hiatus between August 2020 and the re-opening up of in-person darts for summer 2021. Meanwhile, we have taken the time to reimagine the award in a similar way to the magazine itself.

Many changes have taken place within the world of amateur darts in recent times, however many sports, including golf, cricket, and boxing have a venerable tradition of the ‘proud amateur’, and Darts World is happy to play its part in restoring this within our game. Darts World has partnered with Toff London to be able to introduce the brand new Amateur Award with a fantastic and unique prize to each winner.

The winner can be any amateur** player nominated by a friend or teammate. Simply drop us a line, giving a short summary of why they deserve the award, to the editor; editor@dartsworld.com or send us a message via Facebook/Twitter or Instagram. Don’t forget to include the nominee player’s name, (and team if relevant) and the name of the person nominating.

As you can see Toff darts-themed watches are highly original in themselves and will be even more so with the winner’s name and achievement engraved onto their prize. The nominator will also receive a Darts World prize*.

Each issue’s winner will also be added to our long-running Hall of Fame.
