If the MODUS Super Series were a human, we’d all be gathered round a cake with three candles, singing Happy Birthday in front of a supermarket sponge. However, it isn’t human – which spares us the indignity of party hats – but it is three years old, and that’s something well worth celebrating.

Born during those strange lockdown days when everyone either bought a dartboard or started writing pub quizzes on Zoom, the MODUS Super Series has quietly become one of the best things to come out of the pandemic. No panic-buying here – just a proper stage for players looking to make a name for themselves.

It’s cut from the same cloth as the ADC and The Vault – giving players who are hovering on the edge of professionalism a place to sharpen their tungsten or, for those who’ve already had a taste of the PDC treadmill, somewhere to keep playing without the stress of bills, travel, and ranking points ruining the fun. Think of it as darts’ halfway house: competitive enough to make it count, yet, relaxed enough to still be enjoyable.

And this brings us nicely to the prize pot awaiting the latest Vault 13.0 winners. Thirteen regional champions – a baker’s dozen, if you prefer your darts with a side of pastry metaphors – have each bagged themselves not just bragging rights but an invite to the MODUS Super Series.

One invite, one big chance, and the possibility of walking away many thousands of pounds richer. Not bad for chucking a few trebles.

The formula sounds simple: head to Portsmouth, win your weekly group, then come back at the end of the series and win again. Easy on paper. In reality? Far trickier. But others have done it before, so why not these folk?

So, expect to see the following names on stage at the Live Lounge very soon – and if you fancy watching, Pluto TV has you covered:

Wales North – Terry Nash

Wales South – Alec Small

Ireland – Dylan Dowling

Northern Ireland – Butch Devine

Midlands – Jonathan Platt

North West – Patrik Williams

North East – Billy Leonard

East of England – Tyler Thorpe

South West – Lee Evans

Yorkshire & Humber – Ciaran Forde

South East & London – Chas Barstow

So there you have it: the next batch of faces ready to test themselves on the MODUS stage. Their mission? Travel down to Hampshire and do battle. Or, in slightly less medieval terms, grab a train to Portsmouth and play some great darts.

—–ENDS—–

Cam Crabtree doubled his weekend title tally on Saturday, whilst Jurjen Van der Velde returned to winning ways, as the pair won Development Tour Events 13 & 14 respectively, as the third weekend of the PDC’s Youth Tour season continued in Hildesheim.

Crabtree, who was victorious in Friday’s Event 11, went all the way once again 24 hours later, as he reached the final of Event 13 firstly by recording victories against Cian McCormack, Ryan Branley, Axel Savelkoel, Denfie Drenthen, Viktor Tingstrom, Beau Greaves and Tavis Dudeney, to set up a clash with compatriot Patrik Williams.

The final began with Crabtree racing into a 3-0 lead with winning legs coming in 14,18 and 19 darts respectively, before Williams ended the run by picking up his first leg of the tie in Leg Four with a 17 dart hold of throw. This ultimately turned out to be his only leg won in the final, as Crabtree won back-to-back legs and sealed the victory in Leg Six with a 16-dart break of throw to pick up a second title of the weekend as well as a further £2,500 in prize money.

In Event 14, Jurjen Van der Velde was victorious as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Liam Maendl-Lawrance, Viktor Tingstrom, Kimi Seemann, Huey de Jong, Jamai Van den Herik, Florian Preis and Ronan McDonagh, to set up a clash with Englishman Henry Coates.

The final began with Coates racing into a 2-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 14 and 17 darts respectively, before Van der Velde fort back by winning back-to-back legs of his own in a total of 28 darts to square the tie up at 2apiece in a race to five. The tie then saw four straight breaks of throw between the pair to set up a ninth and deciding leg, in which Van der Velde would have the advantage of throwing first. This proved to be vital as the Dutchman sealed the victory with a 16 dart hold of throw to pick up a fourth Development Tour title of his career as well as the £2,500 top prize.

The PDC Winmau Development Tour weekend concludes on Sunday, with Event 15 taking place in Hildeshiem, with play commencing at 10:00 CEST (9:00 BST), as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
