It’s been a hectic period in the National League Premiership for London, their third match in quick succession saw them take on perhaps their toughest test to date, as they welcomed Yorkshire to the capital:
The Ladies B improved on their previous two displays to square the section. The first point went to Nikki Patten (19.06) who bagged a well-deserved match award. Joanne Deamer and Tammy Mackenzie also came away with a win which set up the second session nicely. London began well. Liam Hill (28.65) and John Hind (28.63) played some lovely stuff as the hosts took two of the first three points on offer. The men from the White Rose county then took four straight wins before Wayne Brown got one back. The last four games of the day saw the points split between the two teams, with debutant John Loeber and Dean Coughlan taking the wins.
The Ladies A produced their best team performance of the season so far to share the sectional spoils. Juliane Birchall, Steph Stutley (25.91) and Mandy Solomons secured the London wins. The hosts were still in the hunt but Yorkshire blew the game wide open and took the first five games in the Men’s A to guarantee a draw at worst. Daniel Day kept the result in doubt but Yorkshire completed the win in the next game. With five points still to be won, it was a matter of pride and London showed plenty of that as they took four of them. Steven Beasley continued his good rum of form, David Wawrzewski (30.74) produced a cracking performance to claim the match award, Chris Holt and Ben West added to the tally to leave the final score 20-16 in favour of the visitors.
After four games, London currently occupy fourth spot in the Premiership table and will look to consolidate their position in their final match of the calendar year which sees them visit Warwickshire.
