Michael van Gerwen will begin the defence of his Interwetten European Darts Open title this weekend against Daryl Gurney or Kevin Burness, with the draw and schedule of play for the year’s fifth PDC European Tour event confirmed.
Taking place at the Ostermann Arena in Leverkusen, Germany, the £140,000 tournament will see three days of play from Friday to Sunday, with the likes of 2019 winner Van Gerwen, World Champion Peter Wright and world number two Gerwyn Price in action.
Friday’s first-round will see former European Tour event winner Gurney in action against Burness for the right to face Van Gerwen, while Dave Chisnall faces German number one Gabriel Clemens in one of the stand-out ties.
Host nation duo Martin Schindler and Nico Kurz will take on Ritchie Edhouse and Rowby-John Rodriguez respectively.
The seeded players enter the event in round two on Saturday, with Wright set to meet Adam Gawlas or Scott Williams and Price to play Mickey Mansell or Luke Woodhouse.
Sunday’s Finals Day will see the last 16 take place in the afternoon session, before the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in the evening.
Tour Card Holder Qualifier Danny Baggish has withdrawn from the event due to personal reasons. Subsequently, Karel Sedlacek receives a Bye to the second round.
Coverage will be streamed through DAZN for viewers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, via Sport1 in Germany and through PDCTV for subscribers in all other territories, as well as through bookmakers worldwide.
PDCTV Subscription options will include a £3.99 Event Pass & a £1.99 Day Pass.
