The ADC’s top two, Matt Jackson and Adam Atkinson, highlighted why they are the highest-ranked players this week:

Despite being knocked off the top spot, whilst on Live League duty, The Action regrouped by winning the Bar 501 Kingswood Round Robin denying John Brown his third consecutive win in a row. The Englishman however remains 8 points behind Atkinson who picked up another win of his own at the Consett Station Club KO on Thursday.

The new Number 1 prevailed (a 4-1 winner) against Raymond Marshall in the Final despite averaging nearly seven points lower than his opponent. Double ten with his first dart was enough for another victory for the year, hitting the only two maximums in the Final to move onto 666 points.

Tony Wood also played in Consett on Thursday, as the 54-year-old saw his hopes of glory ended by 27-year-old Atkinson losing 4-0 in the Quarter Finals. The man who reached the Last 128 of the UK Open in 2003 will also be in action over the weekend, returning to Consett for ranking tournament event 2 set to take place on Sunday.

The Englishman will want to close the gap on those above him with Lloyd Pennell in third set to play in the undisputed series in Manchester tonight, whilst Graham Hall is fourth and just 40 points ahead. Wood hasn’t won so far this year on the ADC circuit and getting over the line for the first time could be vital for the confidence going into the remainder of the year.

Steve Brown is eighth in the ADC Rankings but knows he could be higher, impressing in matches against the likes of Johnny Haines and Robert Rickwood in the Online Live League this week. The Bomber is entered for the Morden Open set to take place in the Royal Surrey Snooker Club, as he looks to pick up his fifth title of the year.

Number 7 Adam Warner who is just 13 points of 6th placed Geoff Murray, will play in the undisputed series on Friday against Lloyd Pennell before travelling to York after entering for the tenth Streamline Taxis York Open event. He will have his work cut out though, with former World Boys champion Leighton Bennett also playing in York on Saturday.

This is the last weekend of action before the Championship Tour Events 3 and 4 in Bristol, with 256 rankings points available for the winner. ADC number 1 Adam Atkinson won the first event back in May and Tony Newell the ADC number 11 won event 2 with his 256 points his only points of the year.
