Jackson Return To Top Spot As Championship Tour Approaches

Red Dragon Darts

With the ADC Championship Tours next week in Bristol coming up, Matt Jackson has overturned his 8-point gap from Adam Atkinson to a 24-point lead at the top of the ADC Rankings after winning the Old Ball GSoD in Coventry.

The Englishman fresh off his appearance in the Online Darts Live League beat Dick Arnold 4-0 in the Final, including two ton-plus checkouts of 137 in the opening leg and a 116 finish to seal the victory.

Former no.1 Atkinson won the Consett Station Club KO on Thursday, but his no-show over the weekend means he needs a strong showing next week in Bristol. The 27-year-old won the first ADC Championship Tour back in May, so knows the task at hand with 256 ranking points available to each winner.

Tony Wood won his very first ADC ranking tournament of the year, winning the Consett Station Club Ranking Event 2 after beating Chris Kitch 5-1 in the Final. The 52-year-old also showed quality in his finishing ability after finishing 140 in the first leg, before a 110 finish in the fifth leg completing a 15 darter for a 4-1 lead.

Wood moves up to fourth in the rankings after earning 64 points for his very first win, rising to 472 points and moving above Graham Hall who now sits 24 points behind after not playing an event since The Lilly Mae Memorial back on the 11th of June.

PDC Tour Card Holder Connor Scutt won the Morden Open held at the Royal Surrey Snooker Club after beating Ricky Marrin 6-2 in the Final with Steve Brown also involved in the action. The Winmau man was sent home early after losing a last-leg decider to Oliver Swettenham 4-3, but full focus for the Bomber will be on the events taking place in his hometown of Bristol next week.

Shaun Rutter won the Streamline Taxis York Open Event 10 after beating Mark Lawrence 5-4 in the Final, earning 64 points for his victory with the likes of Scott Waites and Lee Budgen involved in the event held at Huntingdon Working Men’s Club. Budgen who is now the ADC number 8 lost out in the Semis to Runner Up Lawrence earning 16 points to move 14 clear of ninth-placed Steve Brown.

Next week with the Championship Tours as the likes of Tony Newell the ADC Championship Tour 2 winner return to action next week ahead of the next two installments in Bristol on Saturday.
