On the 30th of April, Mel and Darren, owners of DartsGB, celebrated their 5-year anniversary since taking over the store back in 2017!
Based in Enfield, London, the company has seen great success both in-store and online and has a strong social media presence. With over 32,500 combined followers on their various social media accounts, as well as 16,000 members on their Facebook swap and sale group ‘501’, DartsGB has established themselves firmly at the heart of the darting community.
In celebration, DartsGB hosted an in-store event where customers played against Mervyn King and Steve West, as well as take part in a raffle for signed memorabilia.
For those that couldn’t make the trip to Enfield, DartsGB sold Goody Bags online (as well as in-store), with products donated from various suppliers. The bags cost just £15.00 (with a value of over £40.00!).
Unusually, for this type of event, all proceeds are donated to the ‘Hands-On, Hand Out’ homeless charity. The organisation helps the local (London) homeless population with “as much as we can by providing everyday essential items, we all take for granted and mak[ing] sure they have something to eat and drink.” (You can learn more or donate here)
My GBDarts Goody Bag
Firstly, the darts… Unicorn Midas 21g! When darts were no longer in production, the existing stock were often rebranded as ‘Midas’, hence the extensive variety of products within this particular line.
Luckily for me, I received a set in my match-weight of 21g! The darts feature a long taper, and have a thick, black-coated knurled section towards the rear, reminiscent of the Kim Huybrechts range of darts Unicorn used to produce.
The darts weren’t Unicorn’s only contribution, as I also received a ‘Dartsak‘ dart wallet, a set of (now rare) Kim Huybrechts flights, and an iron-on patch
My ‘Goody Bag’ was swelled, with a set of ‘8 Flight’ stems and flights! I was lucky enough to receive a set of ‘Limitless’ Chris Lim flights, which will fit perfectly into my player flight collection. The stems were the 22.5mm Regular Clear Fixed (a bit of a mouthful, I know), and sets of purple No. 2 Vision flights accompanied by the new yellow No. 2 Fabric flights were also added.
A joint contribution from Red Dragon and Winmau saw a mixed bag of flights and stems included. I received three sets of the red and black Winmau Prism Alpha flights, as well as three sets of unbranded (though I assume they’re Red Dragon) aluminum knurled medium stems.
To complete the ‘Goody Bag’, a DartsGB sticker has been added – perfect for dart cases or your dartboard surround!
I’d like to say once again a huge congratulations to Mel and Darren at DartsGB, and I look forward to seeing what’s to come in the next five years!

Editor’s note: This is a superb idea from GBDarts. We have long supported try before you buy retail for darts and its great to see them doing so well. Perhaps this could be an annual event?
