Darts World Extra 4: Welcome

Red Dragon Darts

SINCE our last digital digest much tungsten has been thrown and many media column inches, and oche-centred content, produced for your delectation. Darts World Magazine released DW 580 less than a month ago and yet there is still plenty left for the next portion of your darting diet.

Joining forces with Winmau to launch our search for the Darts Hero of 2022 has already proven a fantastic success and we are delighted to include more details and the first of our nominee snapshots in this edition. Nominations are still open and we would be delighted to hear as many of your suggestions as is humanly possible. Full details, nomination instructions, and the first example of a true ‘Darts Hero’ begin on page 17 of this issue. ( Read or download here, Free!)

Once upon a time, August was almost a holiday month for the elite darts world and, as a consequence, related industry areas also went on cruise control. Issues of Darts World were thin and contained reviews of the previous BDO season or County reviews etc. In a nod to such issues, and as The UKDA will embark upon their second season in a few days’ time, we include a supplement for the 2022/3 fixtures – all divisions – and selected opening weekend previews.

Another sign of the changing times is that we are able to include our On Tour sections even in mid-summer. Challenge, Development, and Women’s Tour batches have all been played during August and have produced remarkable stories and interesting moments.

Speaking of remarkable stories, our feature interview is with James Hurrell, until recently WDF No.1. Hillbilly’s tale of determination and renewal is one of which many will be unaware and may inspire others to get through the tough times.

The Global Game theme that we often deploy is especially active right now and in this issue. Whether it’s the USA or Australia and New Zealand, Eastern Europe or elsewhere the worldwide nature of our game is gathering speed again and offers phenomenal opportunity.

Amongst the regular features, our Practise Partner Go Darts Pro offers you another drill/game and a way to improve your game during what may be the down or summer season. Six of The Best looks at the Dutch Darting conveyor belt and we examine another set of, possibly overlooked arrows for Choose Your Weapons.

DWE 4’s Cover Story sees MVG return once more. Not only to the winner’s enclosure but to the covers of Darts World Magazine!
