Bullseyes & Bounceouts

Red Dragon Darts

DARTS WORLS EXTRA’s light-hearted look at who is hot, and who’s not, in the world and business of darts. September 2022’s DWE 5 features quite a selection on the up and one or two surprises on the way down?

Bullseyes:

Dave Chisnall – Few would begrudge Chizzy a little success at any time. But the St. Helens man has had a horrid time in his personal life dealing with bereavement and more besides. Perhaps his recent Euro Tour triumph and 9-Dart leg might be the start of a new chapter.

Gerwyn Price – World Series of Darts champion two years out of three is no mean effort. The Iceman is also keeping his World No.1 spot in time for the peak PDC season in which he normally produces his best.

Robert Owen – The Welshman’s having a marvelous 2022 but September really saw everything come together. Stack Attack claimed a second Challenge Tour win of the year and moved into second place on the Order of Merit and in place for a 2023 Tour Card. To cap it off he claimed the England Classic title and a place in the WDF World VChamps as well!

James Richardson – It seems James didn’t like getting stuck with one of our Bounce Out labels last month. Instead, he returned to title-winning form in September claiming the British Classic. Ruthless then combined with son Josh to bag the doubles crown as well.

Duzza – During what for many would be a head-battering slump in form, and playing success, the 3-time Lakeside Champion has forged two new career paths. Not only is he having a bash at coaching other players but he has turned out to be natural with a mic in his hand. Check out the Super Series to hear more of his dulcet tones.

Bounceouts:

Ian White The Diamond seems to have lost his lustre over the past couple of years and is now tumbling down the rankings at an alarming speed. Ian’s main asset was his super off-camera / Pro Tour record but alarmingly he is outside the top 40 in one and doesn’t make the top 50 of the other.

Deta Hedman – One of the most popular players in any form of darts, Deta appeared unassailable in the WDF rankings only last year. However, the preeminence of Beau Greaves has seen Hedman slip to no.2 and her recent efforts have not been the same as earlier in the season.

Devon Petersen –  The African Warrior’s slump is so deep and so rapid that one almost expects to hear some type of horror story in later biography. Surely a player of such talent, who had risen to win broadcast ranking titles, cannot continue such a decline? At least one of our analysis team points to a change of equipment whilst with his previous manufacturer as the key moment…..

Danny Lauby & Paul Hinks – Seems harsh on the American player who picked up an ADC title and played handily in the Super Series. He, and referee Paul, found themselves in a fall-out rather than bounce-out situation when Danny dropped his third arrow down the oche. The rule is it can’t be re-thrown if dropped during a throwing motion. You be the judge here
