Bates Claims Weekly Win

Red Dragon Darts

Owen Bates was victorious on Saturday as he was crowned the winner of Week 2 at the Modus Super Series, after defeating Leonard Gates in the final to secure a place in Champions Week and winning the weekly £5,000 1st prize.

Bates, who entered the finale having finished 2nd in Group B on Thursday and Friday, won just one of his group phase matches, by winning his opener against John Brown, before losing out to Leonard Gates. However, Bates did reach the Semi Finals, where he came up against Conan Whitehead and the 20-year-old defeated ‘The Barbarian’ 4-2 to book his place in the final.

In the decider, Bates came up against Leonard Gates for the 2nd time on the night, and on this occasion, he gained revenge, by defeating The North American, 4-3, to join Jon Worsley in Champions Week and pick up the £5,000 weekly 1st prize.

The Modus Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week 3, with the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field to be announced in due course. Play will commence from 9:30am GMT and will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
