Stu Wilson and Jacob Taylor took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day 1 of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Berry Van Peer in Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series. Two stars of the recent world seniors events are in hot pursuit.
Former Challenge Tour Event winner, Wilson, made his return to the Super Series by taking the early lead in Group A, after winning four of his five matches, as he recorded victories against Jack Vincent, Michael Huntley, Martin Thomas and Ryan Harrington, with his only defeat coming against James Hurrell.
Elsewhere, James Hurrell also ended the day on 8 points, but sits behind Wilson on leg difference, whilst Martin Thomas sits in 3rd on 6 points, Michael Huntley in 4th on 4 points, with Jack Vincent and Ryan Harrington sitting joint bottom on 2 points each.
In Group B, Jacob Taylor took the early lead, as he completed a clean sweep with four wins from four, recording victories against Diogo Portela, Justin Hood, Lisa Ashton and Leonard Gates.
Recent Champion of Champions (WSDT) winner, Gates won two of his group games and only dropped a third in a deciding leg. The Soulger will be looking to advance to Saturday’s finale in tomorrow’s shootout.
Justin Hood ended the night in 2nd on 6 points, Leonard Gates in 3rd on 4 points, Lisa Ashton in 4th on 2 points, but it was a disappointing evening for Diogo Portela, who failed to register a victory, with the Brazilian suffering four defeats from four.
Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Berry Van Peer in Saturday’s finale, with Wilson and Taylor taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm GMT and Group B will commence from 10pm GMT.
