Mission Spring Launch 2023: First Impressions

Red Dragon Darts

Spring has sprung, and with it, we officially enter the first of four ‘launch seasons’!

This time, it’s the turn of Mission, and their eagerly anticipated Spring launch! A host of new darts, flights, stems and points for darts players and fans to enjoy – what’s not to love!?

Archon

The Archon darts are the flagship product for the launch, and rightfully so. The 97.5% tungsten barrels are a true work of art, and my personal favourite out of all products launched.

A simple dart in profile, yet anything but when it comes to the grip – I cannot wait to get hands-on with these in a review!

Hexon

Perhaps the most straightforward ‘new’ dart of the launch, the Hexons feature a simple aggressive ring grip at the rear of the barrel, and a more subtle ring grip towards the front, designed around and within hexagonal sections cut into the barrel.

Suited to both front and rear grip players alike, I’m very interested to feel for myself just how both grip sections react in the hand, and the contrasts between them.

Occult

While the Archon’s are my pick of the launch, the Occult are a very close second. A razor sharp shark-tooth style grip adorns the rear of the barrel, while a thinly cut ring grip lines the taper towards the point.

As a rear-gripper who demands a lot of grip from the dart I use, the Occult’s have certainly peaked my interest. A different style of dart for Mission, though it’s clear to see the inspiration behind them with similarities drawn from other darts in the Mission product line, such as the Crypt darts I reviewed last year.

Shaun McDonald

Joining the non-player darts are two replica barrels for two of Mission’s sponsored professionals. Up first are the darts of Shaun McDonald, who’s darts draw likeness from the popular Bristow-style ring grip dart.

A unique coating helps to set Shaun’s darts apart from the rest, with an intimidating-looking black and silver striped barrel. The ‘Punisher’ flights help to carry forward this image – definitely a setup that’ll command attention!

Graham Hall

A more refined barrel for Graham Hall, with a shorter, no-frills design of dart. The primary point of grip is towards the centre, however it’s the front section that appears to have the more aggressive feel.

The darts have been inlaid with green and black paint, and when coupled with the Mission Sabre shafts and ‘G-Man’ flights, creates a truly striking look!

Alan Soutar, Martin Lukeman and Richie Edhouse: Black Titanium

Three of the most popular players Mission sponsor, Alan Soutar, Martin Lukeman and Richie Edhouse, have had their setups coated in black to create a truly different look to their silver counterparts.

Soutar’s, for me, are the pick of the three, with the dark blue and white paint complimenting the coating perfectly. The Edhouse darts too, fit this look especially well!

Along with the darts are more flights, as well as the Sabre stems in Tweenie Plus+, and the Mission Ripple points as standard points, rather than part of the ‘Sniper’ tapered range.
