Conan Whitehead was victorious on Sunday, in winning his maiden PDC Challenge Tour title of his career, after defeating William Borland in the decider, as the third weekend of the PDC’s second tier tour season came to a close in Milton Keynes.
Whitehead, who narrowly missed out on regaining his PDC Tour Card back at Qualifying School in January, reached the final firstly by recording victories against Jeroen Caron, Charlie Symons, David Ladley, Jarred Cole, Dom Taylor, Jeremy Fagg and Harry Ward, to set up a clash with Borland.
The final began with Whitehead taking the opener in 15 darts, before Borland raced in front by winning back-to-back legs in a total of 32 darts, which was then followed by a 16-dart break of throw from Whitehead to square the match up at 2 apiece. ‘The Barbarian’ then rattled off three consecutive legs, which saw him seal the victory with a 14 darter to clinch the £2,500 top prize.
The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour returns between 11-13th August with Events 15-19 taking place again from the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes. All live scores and results will be viewed via tv.dartconnect.com.
