Rob Grundy and Darryl Pilgrim took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day One of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Rene Eidams in the Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series.
Grundy, who recently made an appearance on the PDC Pro Tour for the first time in his career, took the early lead in Group C, by winning four of his five matches on Day One, as he recorded victories against Jon Worsley, Chris Wickenden, Adam Mould and Tom Becker, with his only defeat coming against Jim Mayer.
Elsewhere, Mayer also ended the day on 8 points, but sits behind Grundy in 2nd on leg difference, whilst Worsley sits in 3rd on 6 points, Wickenden in 4th on 4 points, with Mould and Becker sitting 5th and 6th respectively on 2 points each.
In Group B, Darryl Pilgrim took the early lead, after winning three of his four matches, as he recorded victories against Steve Brown, Davie Kirwan and Martyn Turner, with his only defeat coming against Darren Johnson.
Elsewhere, Brown and Johnson also ended the night on 6 points each but sit 2nd and 3rd respectively behind Pilgrim on leg difference, whilst Kirwan sits in 4th on 2 points, but it was a disappointing return to the Super Series for Martyn Turner, who failed to register a victory, having suffered four defeats from four.
Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Rene Eidams in Saturday’s finale, with Grundy and Pilgrim taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm BST and Group B will commence from 10pm BST.
