Matt Clark was victorious on Saturday as he was crowned the winner of Week One at the Modus Super Series, after defeating Wayne Jones in the final to secure a place in Champions Week and winning the weekly £5,000 first prize.
Clark, who entered the finale having won Group A earlier in the week, began the night by winning both of his group phase matches, as he defeated Jamie Kelling and Mark Dudbridge to progress through to the Semi Finals, where he came up against Tommy Morris, and from there, he defeated his fellow compatriot, 4-2, to book his place in the final.
In the decider, Clark came up against Wayne Jones, who’d defeated Jamie Kelling in the previous round, and in the battle of the veterans, it was ‘Superman’ who was victorious, as he defeated Jones 4-2 to become the first player through to Champions Week of Series Five and pick up the weekly £5,000 top prize.
The Modus Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week Two, with the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field to be confirmed in due course.
