Jim McEwan and Darryl Pilgrim took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day One of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Andreas Harrysson in Saturday’s Champions Week finale at the Modus Super Series, as Sebastian Bialecki fired in a perfect leg along the way.
McEwan, who entered Champions Week having won Week 10 at the beginning of last month, took the early lead in Group C, after winning four of his five matches.
The Scot recorded victories against Steve West, Anton Ostlund, Matthew Dennant and Matt Clark, with his only defeat coming against Sebastian Bialecki.
Elsewhere, Nine Dart Star Bialecki also ended the day on 8 points, but sits in 2nd behind McEwan on leg difference, whilst Steve West sits in 3rd on 6 points, Matthew Dennant in 4th on 4 points, with Anton Ostlund and Matt Clark sitting 5th and 6th respectively on 2 points each.
In Group B, Darryl Pilgrim took the early lead, after completing a clean sweep with four wins from four, as he recorded victories against Conan Whitehead, Chris Quantock, Mareno Michels and Rob Grundy, dropping just four legs along the way.
Meanwhile, Rob Grundy ended the evening in 2nd on 6 points, Chris Quantock in 3rd on 4 points, Mareno Michels in 4th on 2 points, but it was a disappointing evening for Conan Whitehead, who suffered four defeats from four.
Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Andreas Harrysson in Saturday’s Champions Week finale, with McEwan and Pilgrim taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm GMT and Group B will commence from 10pm GMT.
