Red Dragon Darts

Keane Barry and Jurjen Van der Velde were victorious on Saturday, after winning Winmau Development Tour Events Three & Four respectively, as the opening weekend of the 2024 PDC’s Youth Tour season continued at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes.

Friday saw the PDC Development Tour season commence, with Dutchman Danny Jansen as well as Keane Barry triumphing by winning Events One & Two respectively, with each picking up the £2,500 first prize.

In Event Three, Barry made it back-to-back title successes, as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Vincent Nouws, Cayden Smith, Keanu van Velzen, James Beeton, Christopher Toonders, Owen Maiden and Lennon Cradock, to set up a clash with Poland’s Sebastian Bialecki.

In the decider, Barry dominated the entirety of the tie, as he rattled off five straight legs, which began with back-to-back 15 darters, before the Irishman sealed the victory with a 20 dart hold of throw and a 5-0 whitewash over his Polish opponent to pick up yet another £2,500 top prize.

In Event Four, Jurjen Van der Velde was victorious, with the Dutchman reaching the final firstly by recording victories against Nicky van Aalst, Joshua Poxon, Lennon Cradock, Jake Powell, Beau Greaves, Niklas Fahrenholz, Nathan Girvan and Lloyd Walker, to set up a clash with Englishman Leighton Bennett.

Once again, the tournament finale was a one-sided affair, as Van der Velde rattled off five consecutive legs in 19,13,21,20 and 14 darts respectively to whitewash his fellow Tour Card Holder and pick up a third Development Tour title of his career.

The PDC Winmau Development Tour weekend concludes on Sunday with Event Five taking place in Milton Keynes, as play commences from 10:30 GMT, with all live scores and results to be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com
