Jeff Smith and Ivo Leeksma took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day One of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Bradly Roes in Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series.
In Group B, Jeff Smith, a former World finalist and a reigning US National Champion, has been in fine form so far in 2024 winning especially on the WDF circuit.
The Silencer took the early lead, the Canadian winning three of his four matches, as he recorded victories against David Cameron, Tommy Morris and John Michael, with his only defeat coming against Andy Hamilton, to end the evening on 6 points from a possible 8.
Elsewhere, Andy Hamilton also ended the night on 6 points, but sits in 2nd behind Smith on leg difference, whilst David Cameron and Tommy Morris sit 3rd and 4th respectively on 4 points each and John Michael bottom on 0 points, having suffered four defeats from four.
Leeksma, who entered Group C having finished 5th in Group A earlier in the week, reversed that form in fine style and took the early lead by winning four of his five matches.
Ivo recorded victories against Alan Norris, Shane Hayward, Michael Huntley and Jim McEwan, with his only defeat coming against Jenson Walker, to end the day on 8 points from a possible 10.
Elsewhere, Jenson Walker ended the day in 2nd on 6 points, whilst the remaining four players sit on 4 points each, with Michael Huntley leading the way in 3rd due to a higher leg difference over his three competitors in Jim McEwan, Shane Hayward and Alan Norris.
Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Bradly Roes in Saturday’s finale, with Leeksma and Smith taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm GMT and Group B will commence from 10pm GMT.
