Springer Secures Development Win for Home Nation

Red Dragon Darts

Niko Springer was victorious on Sunday, in winning his maiden PDC Development Tour title, after defeating Gian Van Veen in the decider, as the second weekend of the PDC’s Youth Tour season concluded in Hildesheim.

Springer, who lost out in the final of Saturday’s Event Eight, went a step further 24 hours later, as he reached the final firstly by recording seven victories.

The home nation representative won through against Benedikt Bielert, Bence Horvath, Revelino Dubois, Connor Arberry, Owen Roelofs, Henry Coates and Jannis Barkhausen, to set up a clash with Van Veen.

The final began with Springer racing into a 3-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 18,17 and 15 darts respectively, before there was a run of four straight holds of throw between the pair.

The run was ended with Springer sealing the victory in Leg Seven with a 13 darter to deny Van Veen the chance of doubling his title tally for the weekend, as the German collected the £2,500 top prize and a maiden PDC title.

The PDC Winmau Development Tour returns between 21-23rd June with Events 11-15 taking place from The Robin Park Tennis Centre, Wigan.
