Baker Heads MSS on Return

Scott Baker and Keelan Kay took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day One of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Ron Meulenkamp in Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series.

Baker, who last appeared at the Super Series back in August last year, made a return by taking the early lead in Group C, after winning four of his five matches. The Black Country player gained several large wins aiding his leg difference which would prove valuable later.

The Mod recorded victories against Dennis Van der Ende, Joshua Carter, Rusty-Jake Rodriguez and Ryan Furness, with his only defeat coming against Chris Hurds, to end the day on 8 points from a possible 10.

Elsewhere, Chris Hurds also ended the day on 8 points, but sits in 2^nd behind Baker on leg difference, whilst Ryan Furness sits in 3^rd on 6 points, Dennis Van der Ende and Joshua Carter sitting 4^th and 5^th respectively on 4 points each and Rusty-Jake Rodriguez bottom on 0 points, having suffered five straight defeats.

In Group B, Keelan Kay took the early lead, after completing a clean sweep with four wins from four. The Red Dragon sponsored youngster seemed to refind some of his best form with wide victory margins and some fluent scoring.

The Lord of The Board recorded victories against Joe Murnan, Andy Boulton, Cam Crabtree and Johann Brouwer, to sit on a maximum 8 points thus far.

Elsewhere, Cam Crabtree and Johann Brouwer ended the evening 2^nd and 3^rd respectively on 4 points each, whilst Andy Boulton and Joe Murnan sit 4^th and 5^th on 2 points each heading into the second and final session on Friday.

The Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Ron Meulenkamp in Saturday’s finale, with Baker and Kay taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm BST and Group B will commence from 10pm BST.
