Nine Dart Star Christian Kist produced a perfect double on Friday, in winning both Challenge Tour Events Eleven & Twelve, as the PDC’s second tier tour weekend commenced at the Mattioli Arena, Leicester.
Former Lakeside Champion, Kist, reached the final of Event 11 firstly by recording victories against Wesley Van Trijp, Robert Ellis-Brown, Reece Robinson, Alexander Merkx, Darren Armstrong, Bradley Brooks and Cam Crabtree, with the Dutchman firing in a perfect leg during his victory against Armstrong in the Last 16.
In the decider, Kist came up against Michel Unterbuchner and the tie began with two straight holds of throw, before the Dutchman rattled off three successive legs in 15,14 and 16 darts respectively, to move 4-1 ahead in a race to five.
Unterbuchner battled back by winning three legs on the spin, to force a ninth and deciding leg, which then saw Kist seal the victory with a 12 dart hold of throw, to pick up a third Challenge Tour title of his career.
In Event 12, ‘The Lipstick’ went all the way once again, as he reached the final by recording victories against Wesley Van Trijp, Mat Caste, Kevin Burness, Stu Wilson, Rene Eidams, Jamie Atkins and Ted Evetts, to set up a clash with Scotland’s John Henderson.
Nothing separated the pair throughout the decider, with six straight holds of throw heading into Leg 7, which saw Kist seal the victory by hitting back-to-back 13 darters, to defeat ‘The Highlander’ 5-3 and pick up a second title in succession, as well as the £2,500 top prize.
Elsewhere, the day also saw 17-year-old Henry Coates fire in a perfect nine dart leg in Event 11, with the teenager hitting a first in his PDC career, during his opening round clash with Steve Haggerty.
The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour weekend continues on Saturday, with Events Thirteen & Fourteen taking place in Leicester, with play commencing at 10:00 BST, as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
