Tom Sykes was victorious on Saturday as he was crowned the winner of Week One at the MODUS Super Series, after defeating Justin Smith in the final to secure a place in Champions Week and winning the weekly £5,000 first prize.
Sykes, who entered the finale having won Group A earlier in the week, began the night by winning both of his group phase matches, as he defeated Steven Johnstone and Andy Hamilton to progress through to the Semi Finals, where he came up against Bradly Roes, and from there, Sykes defeated the Dutchman, 4-2, to book his place in the final.
In the decider, Sykes came up against Justin Smith, who had defeated Andy Hamilton in the last four, and the Englishman came from behind to defeat the Welshman in a last leg shootout, 4-3, to become the first player through to Champions Week of Series Eight, as well as pocketing the £5,000 top prize.
The MODUS Super Series returns on Monday for the start of Week Two, with the first of three days of Group A commencing and the field includes Canadian duo Jeff Smith and Jim Long.
Play will commence from 9:30am BST and will be streamed live on the MODUS YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
