Friday’s Five Into Finale

Sam Spivey, Johnny Haines, Jim Long, James Wilson and Derek Coulson all secured their places in Saturday’s finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the Modus Super Series, to join Andy Davidson, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.


Spivey, who entered Friday’s play on 10 points from the opening day of Group C, topped the
group overall after winning four of his five matches, as he recorded victories against Conor Heneghan, Tavis Dudeney, Darren Johnson and Johnny Haines, with his solitary defeat coming against Cedric Waegemans, to end on 18 points from a possible 20 overall.


Elsewhere, Johnny Haines also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 10 points, edging out Tavis Dudeney, who also ended on 10 points, but missed out in 3rd due to leg difference, whilst Conor Heneghan and Cedric Waegemans finished 4th and 5th respectively on 8 points each, with Darren Johnson finishing bottom on 6 points.


In Group B, Jim Long topped the group overall, despite only winning two of his four matches on Friday Evening, as he recorded victories against Mareno Michels and Derek Coulson, with his two defeats coming against Chas Barstow and James Wilson, to end on 12 points from a possible 16 overall.


Elsewhere, James Wilson and Derek Coulson also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall on 8 points each, whilst Mareno Michels and Chas Barstow finished 4th and 5th on 6 points each.


The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Week 11 with the six players battling it out for just one spot up for grabs at Champions Week, with play commencing from 7:30pm GMT. Play will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
