Four perfect nine-dart legs have been hit in two days at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena as Wednesday’s action saw two more nine-dart finishes hit by Luke Humphries and Alan Soutar in their matches against Andy Boulton and Luke Littler respectively.
Gian Van Veen picked up his maiden PDC Pro Tour title on Wednesday, after a convincing 8-3 victory over Luke Humphries in the final of Players Championship Six, as the third double header of the 2025 Pro Tour season ended
Van Veen, who narrowly lost out in Tuesday’s PC5 final at the expense of Joe Cullen having missed multiple title winning darts, went a step further 24 hours later, as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Steve Lennon, Krzysztof Ratajski, Connor Scutt, Jermaine Wattimena, James Wade and Madars Razma, to set up a clash with Humphries.
The final began with back-to-back 18 darters from Van Veen, before Humphries halved the deficit in Leg Three with a 10-dart break of throw. Van Veen immediately broke back in Leg Four with a 13 darter, before following it up again with another 13-dart leg to move 4-1 ahead and halfway to victory.
The tie then saw four straight holds of throw between the pair, ending with Van Veen breaking ‘Cool Hand Luke’s’ throw in Leg 10 to move 7-3 ahead and within one of victory. The Dutchman sealed the victory in Leg 11 with a 14 darter to pick up a maiden senior PDC title as well as the £15,000 top prize.
Humphries’ run to the final saw the World Number One fire in a perfect nine dart leg for the second time in six days following last Thursday’s Premier League Darts in Brighton. The Former World Champion recorded victories on the day against Andy Boulton, Jitse Van der Wal, Luke Woodhouse, William O’Connor, Damon Heta and Ross Smith, before being denied by Van Veen.
Elsewhere, there were Quarter Final runs for Premier League star Stephen Bunting and Dutchman Kevin Doets, reaching a second Quarter Final in as many days, whilst the likes of Michael Smith, Peter Wright and Jonny Clayton were amongst the high profile first round casualties.
Day one of the double header had also seen a pair of perfect legs with both Gary Anderson and Luke Littler striking gold.
The PDC Pro Tour returns next week on 17-18th March in Hildesheim with Players Championship Seven & Eight taking place, with the 128 players competing for £125,000 in prize money each day, with play beginning at 13:00 CET (12:00 UK Time).
Play will be broadcasted across four streaming boards on PDC.TV and various bookmaker websites worldwide, with all live scores and results on tv.dartconnect.com.
