Jack Tweddell was victorious on Sunday, in winning a maiden Winmau Challenge Tour title of his career, after defeating Mervyn King in the decider, as the third weekend of the PDC’s second tier tour season ended in Milton Keynes.
Tweddell, who had returned from seven years away from the sport, had also enjoyed his strongest run within the 2025 Challenge Tour season in Saturday’s Event 14 in which the 30-year-old reached the Semi Finals, he was to go a step further less than 24 hours later.
The Swindon man reached the final by recording victories against Jim Moston, Ryan Palmer, Andreas Harrysson, Ryan O’Connor, Alexander Merkx, Dmitriy Zhukov and Colin Osborne, to set up a clash with compatriot, King.
The final began with Tweddell racing into a 2-0 lead with winning legs coming in 15 and 18 darts respectively, before King halved the deficit in Leg Three with a 17-dart leg of his own. Tweddell then went on to dominate the remainder of the tie, as he rattled off three successive legs and sealed the victory in Leg Six with a 12-dart break of throw to clinch a maiden PDC title as well as the £2,500 top prize.
Darts World Ambassador Colin Osborne equalled his best Challenge Tour run in 4 years as The Wizard improved in almost every round including a very strong win over Steve west in the last eight.
The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour returns between 15-17th August with Events 16-20 taking place at the Mattioli Arena, Leicester. All live scores and results will be viewed via tv.dartconnect.com.
