Meikle on a Mission

Mission Darts has announced the signing of Suffolk slinger Ryan Meikle. Known as The Barber – for the same reason Raymond van Barneveld could have been nicknamed The Postman – Meikle makes the move after nearly a decade with Red Dragon.

The 28-year-old boasts six Development Tour titles and, while still searching for a major breakthrough, is fast approaching a decade of consistent performances on the Pro Tour. And anyone who’s tried that route will tell you – that’s no small feat.

Speaking about the switch, Meikle said:

“I’m delighted to sign with Mission. It’s a fresh start and a new opportunity for me. I’m in my 10th year on the tour now and it feels like the right time to try something new.

“I’ve spoken with a few Mission players on the tour and it’s a company that is rising very quickly. After speaking with Mission, I was very keen to sign with them and I’m excited to see what the future will bring now with their support behind me.”

Equally pleased with the acquisition, Mission’s Player Development Manager Darryl Fitton added:

“When I heard that Ryan was open to joining Mission, I talked to our management and we all agreed that he would be a perfect fit for the company.

“Ryan’s not even turned thirty yet but already has almost a decade of experience playing on the Pro Tour. This is his 10th year with a tour card and he’s become an established player on the tour. I’m excited to work with Ryan and see how we can support him in making even more progress up the rankings.”

A clear talent with his best years still ahead of him, Ryan Meikle is indeed on a Mission – and it’s one he knows is far from impossible.
