The penultimate weekend of the 2025 PDC Nordic and Baltic Tour was a Swedish masterclass, as Daniel Larsson and Andreas Harrysson claimed the titles in the Danish town of Slangerup – roughly 30 miles from Copenhagen, if you’re not familiar with it.
With both finals being all-Swedish affairs, Larsson kept his faint hopes of nicking that second World Championship spot alive, edging compatriot Edwin Torbjornsson in a thrilling last-leg decider.
It’s the 44-year-old’s first tour title since 2023 – a much-needed boost that now leaves him within striking distance of Oskar Lukasiak in second place on the Order of Merit – albeit a pretty bleak one. Larsson would need to double up in Oslo next month to have any chance of leapfrogging his mate. But he will go there believing.
There is a silver lining, though – and it comes in the form of saving himself a few bob. The win now lifts Daniel into the top eight, which means free entry to Q-School in January. Although his airline of choice is unlikely to be as charitable.
Even before Andreas Harrysson completed his hat-trick of wins for the year, his place at Ally Pally in December was virtually secured. Now, it’s officially confirmed. Dirty Harry, as he’s affectionately known (for Clint Eastwood related reasons – not ones of hygiene), overcame Lukasiak in another dramatic final that went right down to the wire. Runner-up status should still be enough for the three-time Swedish World Cup representative to join Andreas on the flight to London in December – though he won’t be browsing Airbnbs just yet.
Fun fact: Slangerup was established by Vikings back in the time of some bloke named King Harald Bluetooth. Possibly named after a poorly maintained dental record, rather than inventing anything wireless or useful in the 21st century. Anyway, I digress. In addition to a pair of ProTours, Slangerup also hosted two Euro Tour qualifiers – making it quite the darting hotspot.
First up: a tournament to decide who’ll be heading to the Flanders Darts Trophy at the end of August. That place goes to… drum roll… Sweden’s Johan Engström, who sealed the deal with a breathtaking ton-plus average in the final, defeating none other than Dirty Harry.
Then – finally – a non-Swede had something to celebrate. Darius Labanauskas booked his spot in the other Euro qualifier, overcoming Finnish flinger Jonas Masalin with a strong display. Lucky D will now be rewarded with an appearance at the Czech Darts Open in early September.
With just one weekend left in Norway for the Nordic & Baltic crew, there’s still plenty to play for – and that second World Championship berth remains a juicy carrot dangling temptingly in front of them. Whether they’ll munch on it or choke on it, time will tell.
