PDC Winmau Challenge Tour Events 18 & 19
David Davies and Jamai Van den Herik were victorious on Saturday, in winning Challenge Tour Events 18 & 19 respectively, as the fourth weekend of the PDC’s second tier tour season continued in Leicester.
Davies, who’s furthest run within the 2025 Challenge Tour season to date was to the Last 16 of Event 14, reached the final of Event 18 firstly by recording victories against Lee Barrow, Adrian Gray, Vinay Ramnath, Jamie Atkins, Nathan Girvan, Kurt Parry and Jamai Van den Herik, to set up a clash with Dutchman Alexander Merkx.
The final began with Davies racing into a 3-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 15,14 and 15 darts respectively before Merkx picked up his first leg of the tie in Leg Four with a 16 dart hold of throw.
Davies moved within one of victory in the following leg, with the Welshman hitting an 18 darter and leaving his Dutch opponent needing to win four straight legs to keep his title hopes alive.
Merkx did pull two legs back before Davies sealed the victory in Leg Eight with an 18-dart break of throw to pick up a maiden PDC title as well as the £2,500 top prize.
In Event 19, Jamai Van den Herik was victorious, as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Patrick Dekker, Nicholas Ellis, Nicolas Thuillier, Shane McGuirk, Paul Rowley, David Pallett and Bruno Stoeckli, to set up a clash with fellow youngster, Jenson Walker.
The final began with Walker racing into a 4-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 13,18,14 and 12 darts respectively, leaving Van den Herik in a position of which he’d have to win five successive legs to keep his title hopes alive.
Remarkably, the Dutchman did just that and survived match darts from Walker along the way as he rattled off five straight legs and sealed the victory in the ninth and deciding leg with a 15-dart break of throw to pick up a second Challenge Tour title of the year as well as the £2,500 top prize.
The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour weekend concludes on Sunday with Event 20 taking place in Milton Keynes as play commences from 10:30 BST, with all live scores and results to be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com
