Jim McEwan, Dan Hands, Lewis Gurney, Keegan Brown and Richie Burnett all secured their places in Saturday’s finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the MODUS Super Series, to join Jimmy Van Schie, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
McEwan, who entered Friday’s play on 6 points from the opening day of Group C, topped the group overall after winning three of his five matches, as he recorded victories against Damien Grimes, Johan Engstrom and Dan Hands, with his two defeats coming against Terry Nash and Richard McKee, to end on 12 points from a possible 20 overall.
Elsewhere, Dan Hands also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 12 points, edging out Johan Engstrom, who also ended on 12 points, but missed out in 3rd due to leg difference, whilst Terry Nash and Damien Grimes finished 4th and 5th respectively on 10 points each, with Richard McKee finishing bottom on 4 points.
In Group B, Lewis Gurney topped the group overall after winning three of his four matches on Friday Evening, as he recorded victories against Keegan Brown, Richie Burnett and Steve West, with his only defeat coming against Jamie Kelling, to end on 12 points from a possible 16 overall.
Elsewhere, Keegan Brown and Richie Burnett also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall, with Brown ending on 10 points and Burnett on 8 points, whilst Jamie Kelling finished 4th on 6 points and Steve West bottom on 4 points.
The MODUS Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Week Two with the six players battling it out for just one spot up for grabs at Champions Week, with the action commencing from 7:30pm BST.
