Beau-fever is officially hotting up after the 21-year-old confirmed she’ll be swapping Lakeside for the Palace this year, looking to make her mark on the PDC World Championship.
However, the even bigger news is that the Doncaster sensation will be joining the Pro Tour from 2026, having successfully earned her Tour Card through the PDC Development Tour route. She could well walk into that gladiatorial arena as the reigning World Youth Champion, after edging out Luke Littler in a breath-taking semi-final thriller to reach the final. Although Gian van Veen will certainly have something to say about that when the pair clash in Minehead next month.
One man who’s seen just about everything the sport has to offer – except, perhaps, lifting that elusive major trophy – is Dave Chisnall. The perennial bridesmaid of darts, Chizzy has been among the sport’s elite for over a decade and is widely regarded as one of the best players never to win a televised major.
So when it comes to facing the best, the St Helens ace knows exactly what he’s talking about – he’s played them all. And speaking on his Kwiff blog, the six-time major finalist admitted he’s already dreading the thought of facing Beau. This, remember, is a man who’s gone toe-to-toe with Phil Taylor on the biggest stages. Let’s face it – everyone feared him.
“Beau is the three-time Lakeside Women’s Champion and has been at a top-class level for years now. It’s great for the sport to have her on the PDC circuit next season. I won’t be looking forward to playing her, let me tell you! She’ll do well too – she’s probably better than most of the lads on the tour.”
Greaves is, in fairness, on a ridiculous run of form right now. Perhaps that’s an understatement. She’s won 13 consecutive PDC Women’s Series titles – a staggering 86 matches unbeaten.
No wonder Chizzy isn’t too keen on the idea of sharing an oche with her next year. And let’s be honest – he won’t be the only one.
