His breakthrough into the senior ranks continued in 2025. That year he landed his first PDC ranking title by winning Players Championship 6, defeating Luke Humphries 8–3 in the final. That victory pushed him into the top 16 of the PDC Order of Merit for the first time. The Dutchman is also enoying a strong end to this seasons Euro Tour, making runs to the semi-finals in two of them.
Van Veen’s best televised performances include reaching the semi-final of the 2023 European Championship and deep runs in other majors. He’s also shown consistency across Pro Tours, European events, and youth tournaments alike. This year, the rising Dutch star made his World Cup debut for the Netherlands alongside Danny Noppert and reached the quarter-final stage in both the UK Open and World Matchplay.
His first raking major title came in October 2025 when he defeated Luke Humphries in a fabulous European Championship final in Dortmund. Despite missing two darts to take the title earlier GVV regrouped to break Humphries throw in the deciding leg and take the title 11-10!

What sets Gian apart is his composure under pressure — something not always guaranteed in players so young. He’s had to battle through adversity, including struggles with dartitis early in his Challenge Tour days, and yet turned that into fuel for growth. His scoring power, stage maturity, and confidence in clutch moments suggest he’s more than just a promising junior — he’s a serious contender for major titles.
In November, Gian will defend his World Youth crown against Beau Greaves in what promises to be an absolute belter. At 23, he has years ahead in his prime. Expect more fireworks, more surprises, and more occasions where “The Giant” lives up to his name.
