The 2025 PDC Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts is about to land – louder, sharper, and more unpredictable than ever. Wolverhampton will once again transform into tungsten central this weekend, as 32 of the world’s elite battle to claim the famous Eric Bristow Trophy
Day one doesn’t so much start with a bang as it does with a full-blown explosion. The opening session features eight matches, sixteen players, and roughly the same level of tension you’d find in a family Monopoly night. And to top it off, we’ve got that headline act – Michael van Gerwen vs Beau Greaves.
Van Gerwen, a three-time champion, opens his campaign for a fourth crown against Greaves, who’s currently sitting on an absurd 86-match PDC Women’s Series winning streak. It’s not just a clash of eras or genders – it’s a clash of philosophies. Power and precision meet poise and composure in what might just be the most fascinating match-up of the entire tournament. And if that doesn’t grab your attention, nothing will.
Meanwhile, reigning champion Luke Littler – who at this point is winning trophies faster than most people can say “he’s only 18” – begins his title defence against Czech number one Karel Sedlacek. The teenage sensation stormed through this very event last year to lift the title on debut. Now, he’s back in Wolverhampton aiming to keep his hands on it – and there isn’t a darting soul who’d bet against him.
The group stage, as always, is a round-robin minefield. One slip-up, and even the greats can find themselves heading home early. This year’s line-up is stacked with world champions, serial finalists, and a sprinkling of fearless debutants ready to ruin a few reputations.
The action kicks off this Saturday (8th November)), with an afternoon and evening double session. In total, sixteen matches will light up Wolverhampton’s WV Active Aldersley Arena on opening day – and probably melt the scoreboard by tea time. Saturday’s winners face each other on Sunday, the losers meet in the afternoon, and by Tuesday night we’ll know who’s survived the darting carnage and who’s booking an early taxi.
Then comes the knockout chaos – last 16 midweek, quarter-finals across Friday and Saturday, and a blockbuster double session on Sunday, November 16, where the semi-finals and grand final will decide who lifts the £150,000 top prize and the Eric Bristow Trophy.
As ever, it’s live on Sky Sports, DAZN, Viaplay, and PDCTV. So, grab your pint, dust off the fancy dress, and get ready. Because if you thought the 2024 Grand Slam was wild, the 2025 edition looks ready to blow the roof off Wolverhampton.
