With the World Darts Championship well underway, it has not just been the players making the headlines, with a certain ‘Ally Pally Wasp’ popping up on the broadcast regularly and Poker Scout make the viral insect odds-on at 10/11 to sting a player during a match before the tournament is out.
Following multiple appearances, the wasp’s days could be numbered, with it just 2/1 that a player kills a wasp on the broadcast before the end of the tournament. We haven’t seen a wasp land on the board yet, but that could change, with it 8/1 that one lands on the bullseye during a game.
If there’s anyone who could hit a small insect with a dart, it would be a professional and it’s 14/1 that a wasp is struck by a dart.
Spokesperson for Poker Scout, Jeffrey McMillan, said: “With many players already making a name for themselves at the 2026 World Darts Championship, there’s been an unlikely fan favourite emerge in the ‘The Ally Pally Wasp’ which has made regular appearances during games.
“We haven’t had a sting related casualty yet, but if the wasp keeps appearing with this regularity, it surely cannot be long until a player is struck and we make it 10/11 that a player is stung during the broadcast by a wasp.
“It’s 2/1 that a player kills a wasp whilst playing in a match, whether that be with an arrow or not, however, it is 14/1 that a wasp is hit with a dart in the tournament.”
