Scott Mitchell and Alex Spellman took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day One of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Neil Duff in Saturday’s Double Trouble finale at the MODUS Super Series.
Mitchell, who last appeared at the Super Series back in September 2024, made a long-awaited return by taking the early lead in Group C, after winning four of his five matches, as he recorded victories against Kevin Painter, Robert Thornton, Richie Burnett and Trina Gulliver, with his only defeat coming against Andy Hamilton, to sit on 8 points from a possible 10 thus far.
Elsewhere, Robert Thornton also ended the day on 8 points, but sits in 2nd behind Mitchell due to leg difference, whilst Andy Hamilton sits in 3rd on 6 points, Richie Burnett and Trina Gulliver sit 4th and 5th respectively on 4 points each and Kevin Painter bottom on 0 points having suffered five defeats from five.

In Group B, Alex Spellman took the early lead after winning three of his four matches on Thursday Evening, as he recorded victories against Ram Guevara, Graham Usher and Devon Petersen, with his only defeat coming against Steve West, to sit on 6 points from a possible 8 thus far.
Elsewhere, three players in Graham Usher, Steve West and Ram Guevara sit 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively on 4 points each, whilst Devon Petersen sits bottom on 2 points.
The MODUS Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Neil Duff in Saturday’s Double Trouble finale, with Mitchell and Spellman taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 1pm GMT and Group B will commence from 10pm GMT.
