This issue sees DW593 suggest that darts has currently got the X-Factor and the showcases many different areas of booming success who are expanding the game and bringing it to new peaks.

An exclusive interview from a legendary collectors business get the issue off to a fine start as Paul Mason asks Panini about darts and the future.

Features wise its a packed edition with the ‘Cover Story’ looking at the remarkable doubles already picked up by Luke Littler.

The 2025/26 Season also features in our special middle supplement: The DartsWorld Awards showcases a remarkable 12 months across all levels and around the world.

As ever the issue begins with:

DartsWorld 593: On The Oche

PHEW! What year 2025 turned out to be. Incredulously, as we edged into 2026 for the crescendo it somehow managed to step up once more, talk about a game with the X-Factor!

Luke Litter going back-to-back at Ally Pally and becoming the first since Gary Anderson to win two on the bounce was mightily impressive. In truth he had been imperious throughout the season and especially toward its denouement. The teenager mopped up major after major in a style we have, perhaps, never seen before.

The reigning world champion was really only prevented from sweeping the board by the rise of our columnist Gian Van Veen. The Dutchman may have taken a less explosive route, but, without the recent pyrotechnics of The Nuke we would speak of GVV in tones of awe after the rapid progress he has made.

Several other less positive issues are beginning to raise their head in the game, and it may be wise for our authorities and representatives to act swiftly insofar as they can.

Cameron Menzies’ on stage implosion may represent far more than one man’s struggles with the emotional conflicts within sport, life and grief. Darts is seeing more and more players, at younger and younger ages, struggling to handle the extreme highs and lows of modern professional sport.

The new season is already gathering pace with all codes swinging into action during January:

The ADC completed their 2025 season, crowned a Global Champion in Jack Tweddell, and then raced into the new Winmau Championship Tour before many had a chance to spot their local weeknight Vault competition!

World Women’s champion Deta Hedman kicked off in style defending the WDF’s annual Las Vegas Open but it soon fell to the Europeans to claim the prestigious titles on their own continent as Steenbergen and Rohne led the way at the Dutch.

This issue hosts the inaugural DartsWorld Awards. Nine acknowledgments of elite achievement, amateur endeavour and remarkable contributions to the game of darts.

Don’t forget that in darts, as in many other areas, ‘X’ marks the spot!
