Coulson and Klose Claim Challenge Tour Darts Titles 6 and 7

Derek Coulsen and Daniel Klose were victorious on Friday, in winning WINMAU Challenge Tour Events Six & Seven respectively, as the PDC’s second tier darts tour weekend commenced at the Mattioli Arena, Leicester.  

Coulsen, who has been in superb form for this season and much of last and was a semi-finalist in two of the opening five Challenge Tour Events of the year, went a step further in Event Six as the Welshman reached the final firstly by recording victories against Jenson Remory, Danny Trueman, Ben Robb, Sam Jackson, Harry Ward, Adrian Gray and Andy Hamilton, to set up a clash with England’s Oliver Mitchell.

The final began with Coulsen taking the opener in 16 darts before making it a complete one-sided contest as he rattled off a further four successive legs and sealed a 5-0 whitewash victory with a 15 dart hold of throw to pick up a maiden Challenge Tour title as well as collecting the £3,000 top prize.  

In Event Seven, Daniel Klose was victorious as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Reece Colley, Keelan Kay, Richard Balogh, Dale Gadsby, Matthew Dennant, Andy Courtney and Ben Townley, to set up a clash with fellow Former Tour Card Holder Callum Goffin.

The final began with Klose taking the opener in 14 darts before Goffin hit back with back-to-back 17 darters to move 2-1 ahead in a race to five. Klose then won successive legs of his own to move back in front before Goffin levelled the tie up at 3apiece in Leg Six with a 14-dart break of throw.

Klose then took advantage of the remainder of the tie and sealed a 5-3 victory in Leg Eight with a 19 dart hold of throw to pick up a maiden Challenge Tour title and a £3,000 top prize.

The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour weekend concludes on Saturday, with Events Eight & Nine taking place in Leicester, with play commencing at 10:00 GMT, as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
