DartsWorld Awards 2025/26: Professional Player of The Year

Diamond Draws Competitions

Even the most argumentative or contrarian individual would have a tough job making much of a case for any other player to claim this award. Luke Littler has dominated our game and DartsWorld, both on and off the oche, for more than two years now but last season was quite simply phenomenal.

In an almost surreal demonstration of his dominance the conversation was already about whether or not he could complete the full set of major events open to him. The UK Open and The World Matchplay were the biggest missing pieces in his ranking major jigsaw. That did not last long.

The Players Championship finals was later chalked off, with only the European Championships still omitted from The Nuke’s trophy cabinet.

It was not quite the perfect year for the teenager. Trying to complete a set and defend the other titles proved a bridge too far at the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the World Cup of Darts threw up another hurdle in that he and Luke Humphries did not seem to gel immediately. It seemed that Luke was unimpressed by German crowds and events in general.

A change of management together with ever more commercial enterprises suggest that the Warrington Wonder may also be lifting all boats as new and diverse commercial partners are attracted to the game and that his influence goes far beyond titles and superlatives.

Inaugural DartsWorld Awards Supplement

Our inaugural awards showcase nine awards that cover a wide spectrum of darting endeavours from the 2025/26 season that ended with the crowning of a new World Champion in January.

FULL DETAILS WITH DARTSDATABASE: The 2025/26 season’s events in facts and stats

From the professional to the amateur, and from elite performance to charitable efforts we try to live up to our name.

In making our selection we do not lay claim to an open and democratic process, at least for the first outing. Instead we have asked those directly connected with DartsWorld. Players, writers, analysts and business leaders have chipped in nominations, award categories and eventual winners.

There are a few self imposed rules, but, somewhat like the pirates code, they are more a set of guidelines. The most important to explain any apparent outrage is that no player will get more than one award each year.

We hope to develop the DW awards over time, they will be released earlier in each new year and may be part of an occasion, event or special issue – in the meantime we hope you enjoy the DartsWorld Awards 2025/26.

Watch closely on social media channels and here at the mothership dartsworld.com for the unveiling of the 9 inaugural winners . If you can’t wait then simply grab yourself a copy of DARTSWORLD 593 or a great value subscription from dartsworldstore.com and enjoy!
