Tungsten Trio’s Trip To Cheltenham’s Turf

Diamond Draws Competitions

Cheltenham, UK, March 2026. It should come as little surprise that darts’ modern superstars occasionally enjoy a brief respite from the relentless rhythm of the oche by immersing themselves in other grand sporting spectacles. This week proved no exception, as England’s World Cup pairing of Luke Littler and Luke Humphries together with former Matchplay and UK Open champ, Nathan Aspinall traded tungsten for tweed and ventured to the celebrated National Hunt Festival.

Held across four exhilarating days in Gloucestershire, Cheltenham represents the undisputed pinnacle of National Hunt racing. It is a meeting steeped in tradition, pageantry and prestige, where the sport’s most formidable equine athletes compete for iconic prizes such as the legendary Gold Cup. Yet the attraction extends far beyond the racing itself. The festival has long developed a reputation as a magnet for celebrities, sporting personalities and public figures who descend upon the picturesque racecourse to savour the unique atmosphere.

Among those joining the glamorous throng this year were three of darts’ most recognisable figures. Littler and Humphries were spotted enjoying the festivities alongside fellow multiple major winner Nathan Aspinall, ensuring that the darting pedigree inside the VIP enclosures rivalled the quality of the thoroughbreds galloping around Prestbury Park.

For Littler and Humphries, appearances at high profile sporting events have become increasingly familiar territory. Earlier this season The Nuke proudly paraded his Sid Waddell Trophy around Old Trafford before a Manchester United match, delighting supporters of the club he passionately follows. Humphries, meanwhile, has also been spotted in this campaign by Sky Sports cameras in footballing surroundings, sitting alongside his father Mark at Elland Road while cheering on their beloved Leeds United.

Cheltenham, however, demands a certain flourish when it comes to arrivals. In that regard Humphries certainly embraced the occasion, touching down at the racecourse via helicopter in suitably dramatic fashion. Whether Littler and Aspinall opted for similarly extravagant transport remains unclear, though it seems far more likely that their journey involved rather more conventional methods of travel. The reigning world champion was accompanied on the day by his girlfriend Faith, adding a touch of youthful glamour to the gathering.

Humphries Shares Cheltenham Good Fortune

Naturally, for three competitors accustomed to winning on the professional stage, a trip to the races would feel incomplete without a little success of their own. Humphries duly obliged, proudly displaying a betting slip worth several thousand pounds following a victorious punt. In a gesture that reflected both generosity and good spirit, the world champion revealed that his winnings would be donated to charity.

By all accounts the darting trio appeared to relish their day away from the relentless pressures of professional competition. Yet such moments of leisure are fleeting in the world of elite darts. With the PDC calendar continuing its relentless march through a demanding schedule of tournaments, the focus for Littler, Humphries and Aspinall will quickly return to the stage.

After all, for players accustomed to lifting trophies rather than raising betting slips, the ultimate objective remains the same: returning to the oche and finding themselves once again standing proudly in the winner’s circle.
