ADC Europe qualifier Patrick Maat ended Day 2 at the MODUS Super Series top of Group A, producing a clean sweep of victories to lead by 2pts ahead of 2^nd placed Tommy Morris. But, it would not prove enough to prevent The Gun from claiming the first finale spot.

The Dutchman opened on Tuesday with a 4-1 victory over Midlands Vault Series 1 winner Daniel Lee, including 2 180s and a 94.81 average in Portsmouth. Maat’s best performance came in his most crucial match on Day 2, averaging 95.33 in claiming a last leg success against Morris, including a 101 checkout in a contest where both players produced ton plus finishes.

The 29-year-old lost 2 matches in his opening round of matches, but showed no problems on Tuesday as he puts himself into poll position to qualify for Finals Night as Group A winner.

Daniel Lee sat 6pts of the leader after another solid day, picking up 2 victories over the other ADC Europe Qualifier Michel van der Horst and Lisa Ashton. The Englishman qualified for this week via the ADC, and just about kept himself in the mix for qualification from Group A.

The action resumed on Wednesday, with Dutchman Patrick Maat, last week’s late substitute Tommy Morris and debutant Daniel Lee all hunting down top spot.

It was Morris who finally secured his place in Saturday’s finale, after winning three of his five matches to end his Group A campaign, top, as the field was confirmed for Groups B and C at the Modus Super Series.

The Gun, who entered Wednesday’s play on 14 points from the opening two days of Group A, won three matches from five to top the group overall, as he recorded victories against Daniel Lee, Patrick Maat and Thibault Tricole, with his two defeats coming against Michel Van der Horst and Lisa Ashton, to end on 20 points from a possible 30.

Elsewhere, Daniel Lee and Patrick Maat will compete in Group B, after the pair finished 2^nd and 3^rd respectively overall on 16 points each and will be joined on Thursday and Friday Evening by Steve West, Dan Read and Lee Shewan.

Michel Van der Horst, Thibault Tricole and Lisa Ashton will all compete in Group C, after finishing 4^th, 5^th and 6^th respectively overall, with Van der Horst and Tricole finishing on 14 points each and Ashton on 10 points. The trio will be joined on Thursday and Friday Afternoon by Shane McGuirk, Jack Main and Ryan Harrington.

Modus Super Series continues on Thursday with Group C commencing from 1pm BST and Group B commencing from 10pm BST. Play will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
