Simon Whitlock slumped to defeat on World Seniors Championship debut in his clash with Paul Hogan at the Circus Tavern last night.

The fourth World Seniors Darts Championship got underway with Hogan repeating the giant killing feats for which he has been famed throughoyt his long career.

Today’s highly anticipated debuts of Steve Beaton and Merv King will add to this year’s drama and entertainment.

Despite a reasonable start Whitlock never asserted himself upon Hogan who ran out a convincing winner by 3 set to 1.

Meanwhile, 3 time world champion John Part managed to edge out Scot Jim McEwan 3-2 and Mike Huntley sent Kevin Edwards packing by the same score.

Tony O’Shea ko’d Lisa Ashton in a scrappy but dramatic battle that also needed a deciding set.

The 2025 field of consists of 28 players also includes world, major and previous senior champions: John Part, Tony O’Shea, Richie Burnett, Martin Adams, Darryl Fitton, Robert Thornton, Leonard Gates, Vincent van der Voort and reigning champion John Henderson.
