Gawlas Grabs Development Tour Win

Diamond Draws Competitions

In keeping with the Eastern European theme that dominated much of the weekend, it was Czechia’s Adam Gawlas who captured the final Development Tour darts title of the five-event Milton Keynes gathering, denying Sebastian Bialecki a fourth crown in the space of just a few days to secure glory.

The former UK Open semi-finalist collected his second career title on the Winmau supported tour, adding to the success he enjoyed in 2023 with a superb display of consistency and composure, eventually overcoming the seemingly unstoppable Pole in the final.

After surviving an opening-round scare against Callum Lester in a deciding leg, the 24-year-old was forced to negotiate another stern examination against England’s Ben Townley to reach the quarter-finals. Gawlas then accounted for Saturday evening champion Cam Crabtree before prevailing in another last-leg thriller against Jack Pollard to book his place in the weekend’s curtain call.

Standing in his way was Bialecki, a player who had already amassed a remarkable hat-trick of titles over the course of just a few days. The Czech youngster burst out of the blocks to establish a commanding 3-0 advantage. Although The Bolt soon found his rhythm and restored parity, it was the Třinec-born arrow-smith who delivered the decisive blows, reeling off the final two legs to bring a busy week at Arena MK to a memorable conclusion.

Victory lifts Gawlas to the fringes of the top ten on the Order of Merit and considerably closer to the leading pack than he had been at the start of the day. Meanwhile, after an extraordinary haul of three titles and a runners-up finish, Bialecki has established a commanding advantage at the summit of the standings, boasting more than double the prize money accumulated by nearest challenger Jack Drayton.
