Dancing Dimitri van den Bergh made it a night to remember in Denmark, claiming his first World Series win after beating Gary Anderson 11-5 in the Final of the Nordic Darts Masters.
After opening the tournament by whitewashing Benjamin Drue Reus 6-0 in the First Round, he went on to knock the likes of World Number 2 Gerwyn Price out in the Quarters before beating last weeks US Darts Masters champion Michael Smith in the Semis.
The Final saw ten maximums with six in favour of the Flying Scotsman, who was well worthy of his spot in the Final as he averaged over 103 in beating Peter Wright in the Quarter Finals. The 27-year-old wanted the job done early in Copenhagen, with the Antwerp darting ace racing into an 8-0 lead in a first to 11 match including a 130 check out in the fifth leg to hold.
That would turn out to be the highest of the Final, with the 51-year-old finding a 61 finish in the eleventh leg to break throw in Denmark and win his third leg of the tie. The man who’s set to feature at the World Cup for his home country Belgium, hit a checkout of 86 to go 9-4 up, a checkout Anderson hit twice in his Quarter Final with the reigning world champion.
After missing three darts at double to seal the title in the fifteenth leg, there was no messing about from the former World Matchplay champion as he found double eighteen with his second dart to complete a 56 checkout and take his first World Series title of his career, winning £20,000 for his victory in Copenhagen.
The Dream Maker coped very well in his Semi Final to fend of the pursuit of back-to-back World Series titles from Michael Smith, with Bully Boy hitting eight 180s in the first match of the evening session as the Belgian chipping in with three himself. The highest checkout of the match was hit in the Final leg with Van den Bergh finding tops to complete a 111 checkout after hitting treble nineteen and single fourteen.
A strong competition in Denmark over the weekend but focus switches now to the Premier League Darts with Michael van Gerwen looking for revenge on James Wade after the Englishman won 10-4 in the Quarter Finals in the afternoon session.
Jonny Clayton and Joe Cullen did not feature but will be ready for the challenges Berlin has to offer with the two set to face each other.
