Darts World are delighted to introduce Glenn Woodage as our new resident expert for all your betting advice and tips. The Unibet Premier League has already thrown up a few notable surprises and as it reaches its climax, we can be sure of many more. With Durrant and Cross bowing out, just eight players remain and all are in with a realistic chance of making the play-offs.
Three to kick off:
For this issue I’ve selected three bets that appeal to me on value, all available with tournament sponsors Unibet.
Clayton to make the top four – 5/4
Jonny Clayton came into the event in red hot form and began extremely well, winning two and drawing one from his opening trio of games. Despite losing two of his last three Premier League matches he is still performing at a high level. Right now, I can’t see more than three players finishing above him and 5/4 offers excellent value for him to make the play-offs.
Aspinall to claim the title – 6/1
Aside from Dimitri Van den Bergh, Aspinall is the player who has impressed me the most. Just prior to the Premier League beginning, he was visibly struggling to find form and most were tipping the Asp to be relegated. Yet, Nathan has turned it around and looks right back to his best. Last year on debut, Aspinall went all the way to the final where he was defeated by Durrant. I think based upon this year’s Premier League, 6/1 to go one step further shows very good value.
MVG to miss out on the play offs – 10/3
Perhaps contentious but it’s no secret that this isn’t the Michael van Gerwen who has dominated the world of darts over the past decade. Despite showing flashes of his genius, he won less than half of his opening fixtures and that is very unlike the Dutchman. Michael missed the cut last year and 10/3 is a good price for him to once again fall short.
