You Bet! Matchplay Value

Red Dragon Darts

Once again, Darts World are delighted to welcome back our new resident expert betting tipster, Glenn Woodage. This time, Glenn looks at his value picks for the World Matchplay:

Like so many, I am delighted that the tournament is returning to the Winter Gardens in Blackpool – and all being well, we will have big crowds every night.

It’ll be interesting to see how the players who haven’t performed in front of fans lately will adjust. The ones in the Premier League got a taste of it towards the end so I am going to look at three who didn’t.

These are my value choices to win the 2021 Betfred World Matchplay.

ROB CROSS – 40/1

At this price, The Voltage is certainly worth looking it. He seems to have picked up a bit of form lately and was impressive at the recent Super Series, including a semi final run.

We know how good Cross can be if he turns up and performs like he can – he’s more than capable of a good week in Blackpool. After all, he did just that two years ago when he won the Matchplay.

For someone who knows what it’s like to go all the way at the Winter Gardens, 40/1 offers very good value.

JOE CULLEN – 25/1

Most experts are saying it’s a case of ‘when’ not ‘if’ for Cullen to lift a PDC major. He has the ability and on the circuit this year, is proving it – winning two events and leading the pro-tour order of merit.

Blackpool hasn’t been kind to him in the past – apart from that epic ‘fly-gate’ quarter-final against Gary Anderson in 2018, the rest of his appearances have been early exits for the Yorkshireman.

But you feel it’s now his time. Just take a look at the players currently in red hot form – Cullen is certainly one of them.

DIRK VAN DUIJVENBODE – 28/1

World Grand Prix runner-up last year and on his day, a player capable of challenging anyone.

It could all depend on the draw for the dangerous Dutchman – definitely someone the seeds would want to avoid in round one.

He really impressed me at the Super Series in Germany back in April – claiming his first players championship win and reaching the final the following day.  I just have a feeling he could be one to watch in Blackpool.
