Q-School ’22: Thornton through in final flourish.

The final 16 players, including Robert Thornton and Chris Landman, secured automatic spots into the Final Stage of Q School on Tuesday, after coming through on the final day of Stage 1 in their respective fields, with the remaining spots going to players via the Order of Merit, with Fallon Sherrock headlining the Order of Merit Qualifiers. 

UK Q School 

3x Major Champion, Robert Thornton, continued his bid to regain his Tour Card, after coming through five matches on Tuesday, in recording victories over Colin Osborne, Mark Layton, Rhys Hayden, Thomas Lovely and Connor Scutt. 

The remaining seven players to secure automatic spots to the Final Stage of UK Q School were Mike Warburton, David Pallett, George Killington, Justin Smith, Dan Read, Jim McEwan and Jacob Taylor, with Pallett and Killington being the only players to have owned a Tour Card before in their careers. 

Players to secure their place via the Order of Merit, including the likes of Queen of the Palace Fallon Sherrock, Former World Champion Richie Burnett, as well as Danny Lauby and Diogo Portela. 

European Q School 

Dutchman Chris Landman, who recently competed at the 2021/22 PDC World Championship, headlined the 8 automatic qualifiers from European Q School, as he came through five matches, in recording victories over Nick Paenen, Sebastian Steyer, Jan De Weerdt, Maikel Verberk and Owen Roelofs. 

The remaining seven players to secure automatic places included Landman’s fellow Dutchman, Vincent Van der Meer, who continues his bid to win back his Tour Card, as well as Michael Rasztovits, Patrick Van den Boogaard, Arjan Konterman, Martijn Dragt, Daniel Jansen and Andreas Toft Jorgensen. 

Players to secure their places via the Order of Merit, including the likes of Benito Van de Pas, Ronny Huybrechts, Jose Marques and Willem Mandigers. 

PDC Q School continues on Wednesday, in the UK and in Europe, with the start of the Final Stage commencing with 1 automatic spot up for grabs across both fields, with commencing in Europe at 12:00 CET and in the UK at 12:00 GMT. All live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
